Richard Harries ENGLAND Death Obituary:  It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Lord Richard Harries of Pentregarth, a revered bishop, distinguished author, and compassionate leader, who died on Wednesday, 29th April, at the age of 89. His life was a testament to humility, wisdom, and service, leaving a lasting legacy in both the Church of England and the broader community.

Born in 1937, Richard Harries dedicated his life to faith, education, and public service. An accomplished theologian and writer, he served as Bishop of Oxford from 1987 to 2006, and as Gresham Professor of Divinity from 2008 to 2012. Known for his gentle humility and insightful intellect, Lord Harries was a rare example of humane Anglicanism, inspiring many through his compassionate approach and profound understanding of faith.

He is survived by his wife Jo and their family, to whom he was devoted. Throughout his career, Richard authored numerous influential books on faith, ethics, and the arts, and shared his insights on Radio 4’s *Thought for the Day*, inspiring countless listeners.
