All of us at FMAI are deeply devastated by the loss of our dear friend and valued team member on April 17, 2026. Don Spurrell dedicated over 22 years of his life to RFA/FMAI, but our connection with him began much earlier—back in the mid-1980s—when many of us first started our careers. We were blessed to witness his growth into a true professional, a natural leader, a loyal teammate, and an honorable man.
Don Spurrell excelled in his profession, fueled by a passion for his work and a steadfast belief that doing things the “right way” was non-negotiable. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and even with his already elite expertise, he continued to learn and grow. Many of us, both inside and outside our firm, leaned on his extensive experience, wisdom, and ability, which earned him deep respect.
Above all, Don’s family was his priority—a trait we admired most. His love and dedication to his loved ones defined him.
It was our privilege to know and work alongside him. He was a respected leader, a dear friend, and a vital part of our family. His absence leaves a profound void, but his spirit remains with us.
This tragedy is heartbreaking, yet within our faith, we find hope and the belief in miracles. On that fateful day, Don’s earthly journey paused, but his soul found its way home, eternal and loved. Though some called him Don, to us, he was the love of my life, my soulmate, the father of my son, and so much more—his spirit will forever reside in our hearts.
