Erik Horvat Hamilton, Ontario Death Obituary 2026 – Honoring a Life of Kindness and Connection

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erik John Horvat, who passed away on April 20, 2026, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 38. Born on August 28, 1987, Erik was the beloved son of Ivan and Elaine Horvat and a cherished brother to Bobby Horvat (Jacque), Danielle Barry (Jake), and Natasha Horvat.

Erik was a devoted and fun-loving uncle to Austin, Riley, Harmony, Hensleigh, Isaac, and Vincent. He was deeply loved by his extended family, including his many aunts, uncles, and cousins across Hamilton and Cape Breton, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Known for his warm personality, Erik had a remarkable ability to connect with people of all ages. He was kind, polite, empathetic, and always took time to engage with those around him. A loyal friend, he valued the relationships he built during his school years at Corpus Christi and St. Thomas More, and remained close to many throughout his life, especially his best friend, Julian.

Erik took pride in his appearance, often stepping out impeccably dressed, with his signature style and bright smile that could light up any room. He dreamed of becoming a paramedic, a path that reflected his caring nature and desire to help others.

Erik bravely battled substance abuse for many years. With the support of the Ken Brown Recovery Home in Sault Ste. Marie, he experienced nine months of sobriety, bringing renewed hope and joy to his family. His strength and openness continue to inspire greater understanding of addiction.

A Funeral Mass will be held on April 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Catholic Church in Hamilton. Donations may be made in his memory to the Ken Brown Recovery Home or SOAR Community Services.

Erik will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
