Police: Virginia woman accused in Columbia gas station shooting arrested in another state

COLUMBIA, MD: A 46-year-old woman from Virginia has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred during an attempted robbery at a gas station in Columbia, Maryland. Police confirmed that Shantay Lashay O’Donnell was taken into custody Tuesday in another state on unrelated charges. Authorities stated that she will face multiple charges in Howard County in the coming days.

O’Donnell was identified as the suspect captured on surveillance footage, which showed her shooting an employee at a Shell gas station located in the 7200–7300 block of Cradlerock Way on April 17. According to police reports, officers responded to the scene around 7:43 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found an adult male victim suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for emergency treatment.

Investigators confirmed that O’Donnell was the individual responsible for the shooting and the attempted robbery. Her arrest marks a significant development in the case, which has remained under investigation since the incident occurred. Authorities are now working to arrange her transfer back to Maryland so she can face the charges against her.
