Active Shooter Chicago: An active shooter situation was reported Saturday morning at Swedish Hospital in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood, leaving two police officers injured, according to Alderman Andre Vasquez.

The incident unfolded around mid-morning, prompting a heavy emergency response. By approximately 11:40 a.m., police officers and SWAT team members had surrounded the hospital परिसर in the 2600 block of West Winona Street. Authorities secured the area as the situation remained ongoing.

In a statement, Ald. Vasquez, who represents the 40th Ward, confirmed reports of multiple shots fired inside the hospital. He stated that two officers had been shot, with one listed in critical condition. “This is an active situation,” the statement read. “Please shelter in place if you are in the surrounding area or avoid the area.”

Despite the alderman’s statement, police officials had not yet confirmed specific details regarding the shooting or the condition of those involved. Investigators remained on the scene working to assess the situation and ensure public safety.

Residents in the Lincoln Square area were urged to remain indoors and avoid the vicinity while law enforcement continued to respond. The hospital was effectively locked down as officers conducted their search and secured the premises.

This remains a developing situation, and authorities are expected to release further updates as more verified information becomes available.
